Manchester United are waiting on Christian Eriksen’s decision after making the midfielder an offer.

The Denmark international is set to become a free agent when his Brentford contract expires, although manager Thomas Frank is still hopeful that the 30-year-old will remain next season after meeting with the midfielder for dinner recently.

It is believed Tottenham have distanced themselves from a potential swoop for their former midfield star.

Liverpool haven’t been linked with a move for Eriksen but former full-back Jose Enrique thinks he would be a shrewd signing for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Speaking on Instagram Live, Enrique said: “Christian Eriksen is another interesting player that could be Liverpool’s solution to our midfield and spending nothing because he is a free agent.

“He is a short-term solution but then we can wait for Jude Bellingham next season.

“He will play if he deserves to play like everyone else. Eriksen is a top player and I believe he can compete for a starting spot in our XI. The season is very long.

“He is that kind of player, like Thiago Alcantara, but maybe a little bit more offensive. But Thiago is our magician.”
