Erik ten Hag’s arrival at Manchester United has sparked some life into the club, despite the disappointment of missing out on Champions League football.
Ralf Rangnick’s six-month spell in charge of the side was ugly to watch and his decision to scrap the two-year advisory role initially agreed on made matters worse.
Matthijs de Ligt, the Juventus defender, worked with Ten Hag under Ajax and the 22-year-old has now detailed his former manager’s management style, insisting he has the tools needed to succeed at United.
“He is someone who loves his job and he loves to work,” De Ligt is quoted as saying by the Evening Standard. “He’s really into the details. This makes him a really good trainer.
“He has a lot of qualities (to succeed). We will have to see how he goes. He definitely improves players. He wants to do everything to make his team play better.”

The 53-year-old signed a three-year deal with the option of a further year and the process of securing his signature was drawn out. Ahead of his first transfer window, Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong has emerged as a priority target whilst Ajax defender Jurrien Timber is another player frequently linked.
Two senior midfielders in Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba are confirmed to be leaving the club upon the expiry of their contract later this month and reinforcing the midfield will be high on Ten Hag’s wishlist.
