Ten Hag sends email laying down law to United players

Obviously, you shouldn’t believe everything you read, but so far I’m liking what I hear when it comes to Manchester United’s new manager Erik ten Hag.

The Sun ran a report tonight on the back of receiving information from a source, although they do not clarify whether it’s someone close to the club or Ten Hag. Either way the source is convinced the Dutchman is the perfect fit for the Red Devils, even drawing comparisons to Sir Alex Ferguson.

The report claims Ten Hag has sent the first-team players an email, telling them that football is a team game and no egos will be tolerated. It’s clear that he needs to shake up the dressing room which has lacked leadership in a number of departments.

A source told The Sun: “The new gaffer sent the first-team players an email, telling them that football is a team game and no individual is more important than any other.

“His emphasis is all on the team – despite United possessing world class stars.

“He wants the players to train at a higher intensity so that each season is like a game.

“The players have been told that their fitness levels will be the best they have ever been and that if they stick with him and back him, they will be fine.

“If not, they will be out the door.

“They will be drilled and drilled until they get it right. And if they can’t he’ll replace them with some of the promising youngsters.”

The suggestion that Ten Hag is willing to look at the youth team if his stars continue to underperform next season is a welcome one. These players must feel the consequences of their displays especially if they don’t reach their expectations.

The Sun adds that Donny van de Beek has been in touch with his team-mates about Ten Hag, despite bizarre claims from Italy suggesting he has offered himself to AS Roma.

The Netherlands international has allegedly warned them that the new manager is a football obsessive who backs his players to the hilt.

“He’s going to be a bit like Sir Alex Ferguson was,” the source added.

“Fergie knew absolutely everything about his players and didn’t suffer any fools gladly. Neither will Ten Hag.”

  1. Ten Hag is setting off on the right foot, so to speak. I particularly like the potential opportunities for the academy.

I wonder if Fernandez will now stop his incessant whinging at the referee and touch officials. He is not the captain and should keep his mouth shut. His narcissistic, egotistical temperament and body language and gestures corrode team spirit. He may well be benched until he can learn to be quiet.

    1. This is not about Fernandez it’s the whole team. If he didn’t complain,is it your weak captain that will do that?
