Jose Mourinho’s Roma are closing in on signing Manchester United midfielder, Nemanja Matic.
That’s according to a recent report from Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who has claimed the former Serbia international is set for a move to Serie A following a five-year-long spell at Old Trafford.
AS Roma are already planning for Nemanja Matić’s medical tests, probably in July. Full agreement reached on a one-year deal, contract until June 2023 to be signed soon. 🟡🔴🤝 #ASRoma

Matic, 33, was originally signed to United from Chelsea by former manager Mourinho.

Continuing in his admiration for Matic, the Portuguese tactician appears eager to work with the defensive midfielder again for what could be the pair’s final season or two together.
Speaking earlier in the year about suggestions he could sign Matic for the third time in his career, Mourinho, who spoke to Sky Sports (as quoted by Football Italia), said: “I never like to speak about players, I don’t think it’s good for me, the club, the players.
“Everybody knows my relationship with Nemanja, he’s one of the guys with my trust. We won together, we fought together in United too.
“He’s a fantastic player but that’s the kind of answer that is not good for me or for the player.”
During his five years at Old Trafford, Matic, who opted against extending his stay with the club for another season (ManUtd), featured in 189 matches, in all competitions, directly contributing to 15 goals along the way.
