Newcastle United not planning to sign Dean Henderson

The Dean Henderson merry-go-round. From loan, to transfer, to nothing. It doesn’t look like the Manchester United goalkeeper will be signing for Newcastle this summer.

While Henderson himself seemed to be cool with the idea of joining the Magpies in an effort to get more game time, Luke Edwards has written a report for The Telegraph stating that Newcastle won’t pursue the signing of United’s keeper this summer.

Newcastle sources appear to be denying such a pursuit and/every sort of offer reportedly made by the Magpies to acquire the shot-stopper.

This, of course, is very different to what was reported by the Manchester Evening News recently.

Three weeks ago, the MEN suggested Newcastle were ‘still interested’ in Henderson, but they’ve now ruled out a move this summer.

We don’t want to see Henderson spend another season at the club if he’s going to be sat on the bench. While it’s important to have a strong backup option, I want to see our academy graduate develop into a better keeper to increase his chances of one day replacing De Gea.
