Manchester United have decided to trigger the one-year contract extension in Dylan Levitt’s contract.

There will be lots of changes made to the squad this summer, with several players set to depart, but it sounds like Levitt will get a chance to impress new manager Erik ten Hag after an incredible season in Scotland with Dundee United.

Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic will leave and that could grant not the likes of Levitt the golden opportunity to break into the team. It’s not like Scott McTominay is guaranteed a place in Ten Hag’s side and there’s going to be a scramble for places.

However, Levitt left such an impression at Dundee United, he was voted Fans’ Player of the Year. It doesn’t come as a surprise that they want the 21-year-old back for another season.

The Manchester Evening News claims United have triggered a one-year extension in the young midfielder’s contract, so he is now tied down to the club until 2023.

Levitt has been at United since the age of 5 and now the Wales international has a big pre-season ahead of him. In this week’s Nations League clash against Poland, Levitt had 71 touches, and won five of seven tackles he contested.

It remains to be seen if Levitt will be part of the squad next season or not.
