Manchester United will be hoping to address their problems in midfield next season and that will require dipping in the transfer market.
While there is a lot of speculation about Barcelona ace Frenkie de Jong, another player who is reportedly being eyed by United is Bayern Munich’s Corentin Tolisso.
That is according to a recent report from The Sun, with claims Arsenal and United are both targeting the French midfielder, who has struggled with injuries during his time in Bavaria.
The article itself doesn’t state that Arsenal or United are actively pursuing Tolisso but merely label him as a target for both Premier League clubs.
Tolisso, 27, is out of contract this month and reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano says there are no plans to extend his stay at the Allianz Arena. That means he is set to leave the club on a free transfer.
United won’t benefit from signing any midfielder this summer and it doesn’t fill me with confidence that we would sign a player who made just 15 league appearances this season.
I mean, what is that going to fix?
We are trying to replace Nemanja Matic who didn’t have the legs to play every week.
Leave Tolisso to Arsenal and find someone who will not only make a difference but play every week.
