Paris Saint-Germain have intensified their pursuit to sign Benfica striker Darwin Nunez this summer.
The 22-year-old goalscorer is a transfer target for many of Europe’s top clubs after an incredible campaign. Nunez has scored 34 goals in 41 matches and starred in the UEFA Champions League, so he may want to move somewhere that has secured qualification for Europe’s biggest competition next season.
That will be a fear for United if their interest in the Uruguayan striker is genuine. The Reds have one game left this season and Ralf Rangnick can secure Europa League football with a win over Crystal Palace on Sunday.
According to Todofichajes, PSG are leading the race for Nunez’s signature, but the Spanish outlet is not renowned for being the most reliable. They run lots of clickbait and I wouldn’t rule out a Gareth Bale to United story from them this season since they publish at least one annually.
That said, PSG will be on the lookout for a replacement for superstar Kylian Mbappe, who looks set to join Real Madrid in the summer. Such a transfer could shape the transfer window but we’ll have to wait and see.
At least The Athletic, a reputable source, claim United have ‘serious’ interest in Nunez and there is a firm expectation that he will leave Benfica this summer.
Nunez is one of the many strikers linked that will be linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer.
