(Photos) Man Utd trio returns training ahead of final Premier League game

It’s been a disastrous campaign for Manchester United considering the expectations that came with that magical 5-1 win over Leeds in the Premier League curtain-raiser in August.

Raphael Varane’s unveiling prior to kick-off in that game was perfect and roughly 90 minutes and five goals later, expectations were higher than they had ever been since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.

Unfortunately, it didn’t work out quite like that and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who had signed a new three-year just month before, was sacked in November and Ralf Rangnick took over on an interim basis.

Rangnick’s short-term stint as manager has been damaging, to say the least, with a victory over Crystal Palace this weekend putting his side 61 points for the season – United’s worst-ever tally in the Premier League era.

The German has struggled with high-figure absences in recent months but he will welcome three regulars back to the side this weekend as he aims to end his tenure on a high note.

Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw were all pictured back in full training, as seen above, in the preparations for the game against Patrick Vieira’s side.

Sancho has enjoyed a rise in form since the turn of the year but there are question marks over Rashford and Shaw, who both have just one year remaining on their current contracts.

They will both be targetting a positive end to the season, however, with incoming manager Erik ten Hag watching this week’s fixture with a keen eye.
