There is a lot of work to be done at Manchester United.

New manager Erik ten Hag has decided not to join his Ajax squad on their end of season trip to Curacao. Instead he will start work at his new club, Manchester United, in hope of getting everything ready ahead of next season.

According to David McDonnell of The Mirror, Ten Hag has actually terminated his contract with Ajax and will effectively begin life at Manchester United today.

Although McDonnell claims Ten Hag is expected in Manchester today, we don’t believe that is the case.

Ten Hag was not due to start his job at United for another six weeks, but it’s been reported that he has decided to start work earlier as he believes there’s a lot of work to be done.

He told De Telegraaf: “We have agreed that I will be employed by Manchester United from May 16. There are still a few things that need to be done in preparation for the season.

“Among other things, with regard to the make-up of the staff and the composition of the squad.

“I will leave my mark and I have to do it very carefully.”

Of course, he wouldn’t be wrong. United are hanging on to sixth with a game left to play, knowing a win over Crystal Palace will secure Europa League football for next season, which is a far cry from where we started the current campaign.

Ajax drew their final game of the season on Sunday with Vitesse Arnhem, although the Dutch giants had already wrapped up the title a week prior.
