Erik ten Hag was confirmed as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s permanent successor last month but the club is yet to announce who his backroom staff will be made up by.
Mitchell van der Gaag, Ten Hag’s assistant in Amsterdam, has been strongly linked with a move to United and Steve McClaren, who was part of Sir Alex Ferguson’s coaching team for a year, is also likely to be named in Ten Hag’s backroom staff.
Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna were both senior figures in Solskjaer’s coaching set-up but the pair left the club following Ralf Rangnick’s arrival in December last year.
Eric Ramsay was brought in by Solskjaer at the start of this season in a bid to repair United’s set-piece frailties and the former Chelsea coach is now believed to be staying under Ten Hag.
That’s according to The Telegraph, who say that Ten Hag has selected Ramsay as one of the existing coaches to remain under the new-look staff next season.

As per the report, in a meeting with the club’s hierarchy this week, Ten Hag was asked to consider keeping one coach out of those already at the club and Ramsay has now been selected by the former Utrecht manager.
SN’s verdict…
Mixing the old and matching it with the new could be a good strategy for the club and evidently, it has worked in the past. Solskjaer’s backroom staff was largely made up of coaches at the club under Mourinho and Rangnick’s assistants have found it difficult to adjust.
Ewan Sharpe and Chris Armas were both brought in together with Rangnick and the pair have become publicly ridiculed as United’s season derailed.
As per the report, official announcement of Ten Hag’s backroom staff is yet to be made but it’s believed to be happening soon.
