Manchester United face some elite competition if they’re to prise Nordi Mukiele away from RB Leipzig.
That’s according to a recent report from French outlet Foot Mercato, who claim the defender is wanted by as many as four top European footballing sides – United included.
Mukiele, 24, first joined RB Leipzig from Ligue 1 side Marseille in 2018 in a deal worth just under £15m.
Since Mukiele’s arrival in Germany’s top-flight four years ago, the France international has gone on to impress with his versatility thought to be a big positive for several clubs monitoring his situation.
The 24-year-old is capable of playing as a centre-back on either side, as well as a right-back, or even a wing-back.

However, despite his commanding performances while with Domenico Tedesco’s side, with his deal set to expire at the end of next season, this summer is set to see at least one club make a formal offer.
Aside from the Red Devils, the clubs thought to be most keen on the 24-year-old are Bayern Munich, Paris-Saint Germain and Atletico Madrid.
Given the status of the other clubs linked, it is hard to imagine a scenario whereby United end up winning the race for Mukiele.
Despite Erik Ten Hag’s impending arrival, United are a team very much in need of a rebuild, top to bottom and that will pose huge questions over the 24-year-old’s character.
Does he want to take on such a challenge at such a young age? – Does he believe he has what it takes to be the first big-name signing under Ten Hag? – All of these are legit questions that the soon-to-be-former Ajax boss will undoubtedly want answering before he decides, not just on Mukiele, but all possible summer transfer targets.
