Manchester United legend Gary Neville is set to roll back the years as he has been revealed as the skipper for this month’s ‘Legends of the North’ game against Liverpool at Old Trafford.
United legends will be taking on Liverpool legends at the Theatre of Dreams on May 24, with a host of fan-favourites gearing up to return to the pitch.
Neville made over 600 appearances for United as a player and also captained the side. His long list of honurs includes two European cups and eight Premier League titles.
“I’m really looking forward to catching up with lads who I shared many great moments with, but we know the reason we’re doing this is for the benefit of the Manchester United Foundation,” Neville is quoted as saying by the official Manchester United website.

“I’m passionate about supporting young people in Greater Manchester and giving them opportunities to succeed in life, and I know the Foundation do that so well. I’ve no doubt that United fans will come out in their numbers to support a great cause and I look forward to seeing them on 21 May.”
There is no shortage of big-name players involved in the clash, with Antonio Valencia, Nicky Butt, Patrice Evra, Dimitar Berbatov and Diego Forlan all set to feature. Further announcements over United’s squad are expected over the weeks leading up to the game.
