Manchester United linked winger set for new Crystal Palace contract

Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their pursuit to sign Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise.

It remains to be seen if United’s interest is serious enough to warrant a bid, but it was previously thought that an offer worth £35m would be enough to prise Olise away from Selhurst Park, a year on from when he joined the top-flight from Reading.

The 20-year-old has had an impressive breakthrough season at Palace, and naturally, this has led to speculation over a move to one of the bigger Premier League clubs.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United have been scouting Olise in recent months, while The Sun claim there is interest from Arsenal and Chelsea.

That being said, it’s about to become more difficult to sign Olise because The Athletic are now reporting that the right winger wants to stay at Palace and negotiations are already underway to extend his contract.

Palace are planning to increase Olise’s wages and will insert a higher release clause to try and deter interested parties like United.

There are suggestions in the article that the London club will add a release clause that could see the youngster leave for a club record transfer fee.

Olise has two goals and five assists in just 12 Premier League starts this season.
