Manchester United loanee investigated over Instagram post

Footballers need to be careful on social media.

A lot of the mistakes you hear about are avoidable – but that doesn’t stop footballers from putting their foot in it.

Brandon Williams is currently on loan at Norwich City, who have been relegated to the Championship, will be looking forward to getting back to Manchester United and playing under Erik ten Hag.

Although you can delete something you regret posting on social media, it’s slightly different in this case because Williams has a large online following of football supporters.

Williams took to Instagram following Norwich City’s heavy defeat to West Ham at the weekend, showing his middle finger with the caption: “Easy up @NorwichCityFC”.

The on-loan defender quickly deleted the post, but fans were quick to screenshot the post, as seen below.

According to The Athletic, Norwich City have started an investigation into the post.

I have seen 21-year-olds make bigger mistakes and this real isn’t a big deal, but hopefully Williams will learn how to put his social media activity to better use.
