Confirmed Manchester United XI vs Brighton – Juan Mata starts again

The South Coast is ready.

Manchester United are looking to end the Premier League season on a high when they travel to face Brighton in their penultimate match of the campaign, with Juan Mata getting his second start in as many games.

Ralf Rangnick’s side played much better last time out in their 3-0 victory over Brentford on Monday night and they should be aiming to build on that today after what has been another miserable season for the fans.

In terms of team news, club captain Harry Maguire returns to the squad but there is no place for him in the starting line-up.

David de Gea starts between the posts.

At full-back, Diogo Dalot and Alex Telles will be trying to improve on recent performance.

Raphael Varane is partnered by Victor Lindelof in the heart of defence.

Meanwhile, Nemanja Matic has been selected to protect the defence alongside Scott McTominay in midfield.

Bruno Fernandes and Juan Mata will be tasked with pulling the strings in the final third.

Cristiano Ronaldo will lead the line with Anthony Elanga joining him in attack.

Brighton is usually a brilliant away day, but this fixture feels like a dead rubber. United have won three in a row at the Amex Stadium and scored three goals every time.

Of course, United fans have had to wait for this away trip because all three of those wins mentioned above came during the behind-closed-doors era.
