Manchester United midfielder James Garner is having quite the season with Nottingham Forest, with the young star now eyeing a promotion to the Premier League after spearheading their push from the Championship.
Garner joined Steve Cooper’s side this summer after having an initial six-month spell extended, and will now surely have his sights set on a place in Erik ten Hag’s first-team squad.
The 21-year-old is enjoying his best form this season and was at the heart of Forest’s 5-1 win over Swansea this weekend, registering two assists as they edged closer towards the automatic promotion places.
The first assist, a brilliant inswinging corner met by Sam Surridge, was followed by a perfectly weighted pass on the counter-attack, as seen below.

The brace of assists takes his tally to 10 this season in all competitions, in addition to scoring four goals himself.
Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba, two senior midfielders, are both set to leave the club on free transfers this summer and that could work in Garner’s favour. The combative midfielder has already made his senior debut and is unlucky not to have established himself in the side at this point.
One thing’s for certain – he is outgrowing the Championship at a frightening pace and is ready to make the step up to the Premier League, regardless of whether he gets promoted with Forest or not.
