Chelsea make the short trip to Old Trafford this afternoon as they prepare to face Manchester United in a meaningless game, with neither side having anything to play for in the league.
Ralf Rangnick has been credited with shaping many top German coaches, with Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel being one of them. Rangnick was Tuchel’s manager at Ulm and eventually offered the former Borussia Dortmund boss a shot at coaching at Stuttgart.
The pair will come face-to-face tonight but it’s fair to assume that the apprentice is enjoying the Premier League more than his countryman at the moment, with Rangnick enduring a disastrous half-season since his appointment in December.
Ahead of tonight’s fixture, Tuchel insisted that there’s little cause to feel sorry for Rangnick, eluding to his job at Manchester United as a major upside to the on-pitch struggles.

“Yeah but not too much – he’s the coach of Manchester United,” Tuchel told Sky Sports. “Maybe it does not work out at the moment in terms of points and how he wished for it and maybe how he deserves.
“But I don’t feel sorry because it’s a huge job at a huge club and he’s in this position. And I think it was a long life dream for him also to work in the Premier League. And to work for one of the biggest clubs in the world is more of an upside than a downside.”
