Paul Scholes regrets revealing Jesse Lingard conversation

Paul Scholes admits he regrets revealing his conversation with Jesse Lingard where the midfielder labelled the Manchester United dressing room a ‘disaster’.

They were damning comments coming from a player who is set to leave the club this summer. Lingard has not made many appearances this season and I don’t think there will be any United fans losing sleep over his imminent departure.

Scholes made the comments while working at a pundit after the disappointing loss to the Gunners, but in hindsight thinks it would have been best to keep that information to himself.

Scholes told talkSPORT: “I’ve had a little bit of stick for that. I don’t know why I did it! Honestly, sometimes words just come out your mouth.

“I have spoken to him since and probably best I don’t tell you what he said.”

Lingard is out of contract in the summer and looks likely to make a permanent move to either Newcastle or West Ham.

A return to the Hammers would be a popular move for their fans – since Lingard played a key role in securing them European football this season.

United are miles off the top but they must get back to having a squad of players that want to be at the club. As things stand, there are too many passengers.
