Manchester United are expected to speed up their search for new signings after announcing Erik ten Hag as their new permanent manager.

The club will now present the Dutchman with their targets and he will hopefully have the opportunity to do the same. This is a new chapter for our club and the board must give Ten Hag every chance to succeed.

That means they should listen when Ten Hag demands that they hire Steve McClaren as one of his two assistants. They should also listen to his ideas for upcoming transfer windows, especially if they are demanding Premier League titles in the not-too-distant future.

However, it sounds like Ten Hag will have some convincing to do if he wants to sign any of his current players at Ajax.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United are wary of signing Eredivisie-based players after the struggles of Memphis Depay and Donny van de Beek, bought from PSV Eindhoven and Ajax.

The United have been linked with a number of Ajax players amid Ten Hag’s appointment, including: Antony, Jurrien Timber and Ryan Gravenberch.

Van de Beek could receive a lifeline as he prepares to unit with his former manager at Old Trafford, but this doesn’t quite add up with United said to be eyeing up a move for Tottenham Hotspur winger Steven Bergwijn, who came to the Premier League from the Eredivsie.

United are also being linked with Frenkie De Jong, as per Sport – another player who blossomed in the Netherlands with Ajax.

The report adds that Ten Hag is expected to be “sufficiently supported” in the transfer window.
