Manchester United ‘would like’ to sign Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig this summer.

That’s according to SportBILD, as cited by Sport Witness, amid claims Ralf Rangnick has told Manchester United’s scouts to watch the French forward with a seemingly glowing reference.

Nkunku has starred in the RB Leipzig side this season, with 30 goals and 19 assists in 44 games across all competitions. He is a player on the rise, so I am not surprised to hear Rangnick has recommended him to the recruitment team, even though it will cost north of €65m to secure his signature.

However, the German newspaper still raises reasons to doubt United’s chances of doing a deal.

While BILD claims United ‘would like’ to do a deal, the club must ‘tighten their belt’ because of a lack of Champions League revenue.

It is also important to note that Erik ten Hag will have the power to veto any targets. The final decision must come down to the manager.

United should try to use Rangnick’s relationship with Nkunku to his advantage after he signed him for Leipzig in 2019 following a transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.
