Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Erik ten Hag is set to be announced as Manchester United’s next manager.

For the past two weeks, it has felt like the worst kept secret in football, but it sounds like we are getting closer to an official announcement – as expected following the Dutch Cup final.

Unfortunately for Ajax and Ten Hag, PSV Eindhoven won 2-1 to lift the cup.

Soon it will be up to Ten Hag to change United’s fortunes on the pitch, though he will be staying at Ajax to try win a third Eredivisie title before moving to Old Trafford.

As per Fabrizio Romano, an agreement on Ten Hag’s contract is set to be completed, with the two clubs in discussions over his €2m clause.

The graphic used in Romano’s tweet contains his favourite ‘here we go’ catchphrase. The Italian journalist tends to use this whenever he says a deal has been done but an official announcement is not expected today or tomorrow.

Ten Hag is still working to finalise his backroom staff, with Mitchell van der Gaag considered a priority candidate for the Dutchman.
