No Ronaldo: Ballon d’Or 2020 frontrunners revealed by L’Equipe

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi fail to make the cut!

French newspaper L’Equipe has revealed the Ballon d’Or frontrunners for 2022 and it does not include two players who have dominated the award for the past decade.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are not mentioned following their shock transfers last summer.

Plus, with United going a fifth season without a trophy, it is hard to argue why any of our players deserve a mention.

L’Equipe claim Karim Benzema, Kevin De Bruyne, Sadio Mane, Kylian Mbappe and Robert Lewandowski are the candidates to win the 2022 Ballon d’Or award.

Lewandowski may be considered a favourite among fans, but Benzema has been in terrific form for Real Madrid this season.

Meanwhile, it’s a surprise to see Sadio Mane listed ahead of Mohamed Salah.
