(Video) Dutch reporter claims Ten Hag has sounded out two ex-United players to join him at Old Trafford

Dutch football journalist Marcel van der Kraan appeared on Sky Sports News this afternoon to provide an update on Erik ten Hag, the leading candidate for the Manchester United job.

“It is very clear that he [Ten Hag] is the frontrunner at the moment,” Van der Kraan said at the beginning of his appearance on Sky Sports, as seen in the video below.

He added that Ten Hag is sounding out one or two members in Dutch football with a background at Old Trafford to see whether they are prepared to join him if he gets appointed United manager.

Sky Sports name Ruud van Nistelrooy in their tweet as a potential candidate, but he was announced PSV Eindhoven manager for the forthcoming season just last week.

Maybe the second is Jaap Stam?

Two weeks ago, Stretty News revealed that Robin van Persie was “keen” on a role after his name came up during Ten Hag’s first interview with the club in London.

Ten Hag’s camp will meet again with United this week, although Mauricio Pochettino is also expected to speak to the club.

It shouldn’t take the board much longer to come to a conclusion. Van der Kraan sounds confident.
