Manchester United loaned Anthony Martial out to Sevilla in January but his time in Spain has been a nightmare.

The Frenchman made it clear at United that he wanted a move to get regular playing time, after falling out of favour at Old Trafford.

Sevilla made a big deal over his arrival and their social media billed Martial as a marquee signing when they were in the frame to compete for the La Liga title.

However, the Spanish side have dropped off in the title race.

West Ham also knocked them out of the Europa League.

According to Spanish publication Marca, as cited by Sport Witness, it looks like Martial will be sent back to United without Sevilla considered a permanent transfer.

The report stresses that Martial has gone from “bad to worse” which is a damning assessment of a player trying to turn a new chapter in his career.

Martial is under contract at United until 2024 and it remains to be seen if he will feature under the new manager at Old Trafford next season, after learning that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.
