Exclusive: Man United set for Erik ten Hag showdown talks this week

Manchester United executives are set for another round of talks over the possibility of making Ajax boss Erik ten Hag their next permanent boss.

Following the dismissal of former gaffer Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last year, the Red Devils, who opted to take on Ralf Rangnick on an interim basis, are now on the lookout for a new long-term manager ahead of next season.

Although several names, including Sevilla’s Julen Lopetegui and Spanish national manager Luis Enrique, have been linked, Stretty News understands that United’s search is now down to just two candidates – ten Hag and PSG’s Mauricio Pochettino.

As we reported well over a week ago, ten Hag is a clear favourite to land the job and could bring a former Dutch player with him to act as an assistant – one of the names high on the list is ex-striker Robin van Persie.

Robin van Persie is a club legend at Manchester United after helping the side to lift its 20th league title in 2013.

However, as the clock ticks and this season draws to a close, the race for a new manager is very much on for United.

A close senior club source has revealed to us that another meeting between United directors and representatives of ten Hag is scheduled for later this week, in London.

Pochettino is another manager the Red Devils are considering and are also in talks with the Argentine’s camp.

Although a total agreement with either boss has yet to be reached, sources still believe ten Hag is the man most likely to be in the Old Trafford hot seat next season.

  1. Tired following this. Unless the Glazers are kicked out I don’t see better results coming because the problem is not about players and manager but executive and owners

    1. I don’t totally agree with you!
Yes, the Glazers have mismanaged the club by the way they ran the club since they came in by putting someone that knows next to nothing about football in charge of the day to day running of the club. This make us end up with selfish players that care only about themselves and not the club. Players whined when LVG, he was called a school teacher, they said Mou was too toxic, yet Òle the friend of all couldn’t succeed, now we are with Ralf, they said his training methods are outdated. It’s shameful to read stories leaked by the so called players you refused to blame. Even if we bring in Klopp or the manager of our noisy neighbors, our players will still find something to mourn about.

Just read it that they leaked another news that the dressing room is split over the imminent appointment of Eric ten Hag as the next manager. What did these lazy lots know about appointing managers.

My solution is simple, any player that is not ready to put in the hard work should be shipped out. The club should be first before players. There so much player power in this dressing room.

Ralf has said it, no player should be begged to play for the club. And underperforming players should be benched accordingly.

If this can’t be done, we might as well just hire any coach from championship because no matter who the board bring in, it will not be successful.

  2. Here the problem is all the man u players must go with exception of Jadon Sancho and Anthony elanga thens man u boss should strictly follow Erik ten harg as man u coach he can make it

  3. Know if Poccettino gets the job I’ll not be renewing my season ticket. He has won nothing just another yes man for the Glaziers .need a good clear out from top to bottom to including Darren Fletcher
