Nottingham Forest want James Garner on permanent transfer if Premier League dream becomes reality

Reports suggest Nottingham Forest want to make James Garner’s loan from Manchester United a permanent transfer if they secure promotion to the Premier League.

Steve Cooper’s side currently sit in ninth place in the Championship – three points away from a play-off spot – but they’ve played three games less than sixth-placed Blackburn Rovers.

Garner has been one of their key players this season, starring in both the Championship and FA Cup, and he has chipped in with three goals and four assists from central midfield.

While FootballTransfers claims Garner is likely to return to Manchester United this summer, it is suggested that a successful promotion bid could change how the club operates in the summer transfer window.

Garner is under contract with United until 2024 and there’s no way they would let him go without a fight. It would take a big offer from Nottingham Forest and it was reported previously that the midfielder has admirers from other clubs in the Premier League.

With a new manager set to be appointed, Garner will soon know if he is part of United’s plans next season. We certainly want him back at the club.
