Former Manchester United full-back Paul Parker was critical of Luke Shaw in a recent interview.

Speaking to Betfred, Parker said: “Luke Shaw is getting a good run in the England side because Ben Chilwell isn’t fit and there isn’t anyone at the moment currently pushing him for that spot. His comments were wrong if I’m being honest.

“Everyone would have seen that as smug and a dig about what’s going on at Manchester United. When you look at his situation you can say that he’s not playing for Man United as he hasn’t been consistently good enough.

“You’ve not been doing what you’re supposed to be doing. He’s fortunate that Gareth Southgate hasn’t got many left-backs to call on. Going back a bit, if you weren’t playing for your club when you were never going to play for your country.”

A week ago, Shaw said he feels wanted when playing for England. Parker has took that as a smug dig at United and I don’t think he is alone in doing that.

Shaw is apparently set for contract talks but he is actually deserving of one? The club should be leaving that decision up to the next manager.
