Manchester United fans will be getting excited at the latest developments surrounding Ajax manager Erik ten Hag, who looks set to join a new club in the summer.

Of course, Ten Hag is one of the frontrunners to become United’s new permanent manager. Mauricio Pochettino is the other man leading the race, while Carlo Ancelotti’s name popped up as a wildcard option earlier this week.

After dominating the Eredivisie during his tenure, Ten Hag has also made Ajax a force in Europe and they are still in the Champions League as things stand.

Ten Hag was asked about his future this week and said (via Trouw): “The focus is on this season. Right now I shouldn’t be the theme. The theme is how we are going to win games?”

Those comments were never going to kill off rumours because the media are desperate to find out who will be the next United manager.

Meanwhile, during a recent podcast produced by De Telegraaf, Dutch journalist Mike Verweij suggested the chances of Ten Hag joining United in the summer are rising.

Verweij said, as translated by @theutdjournal: “I didn’t say that but there’s a good chance. Pochettino is still number one but PSG have shown no interest of letting Pochettino go. Ajax have showed signs of a possible deal with United.”

This has sparked a very positive reaction from United fans on social media, as seen below:
