Mason Greenwood has been removed from popular computer game Football Manager 2022 following the latest update.

Greenwood, 20, was arrested in January on suspicion of rape and assault. On top of that, the forward has been suspended by the club, with the investigation ongoing following his release on bail on February 2. That means Greenwood will not train or play with the club until further notice.

Moreover, the Manchester United academy graduate was further arrested for sexual assault and threats to kill after his arrest.

EA Sports decided to drop Greenwood from their video game FIFA 22 but now Sports Interactive have done the same with Football Manager.

Sports Interactive confirmed in a statement to the Manchester Evening News: “Any player or official serving an indefinite suspension from football, for whatever reason, has been removed from Football Manager in the latest update.

“If and when that suspension is lifted, the player or official will be reinstated at the next scheduled opportunity.”

This comes after Nike decided to end their partnership with Greenwood.

With the investigation ongoing, updates on Greenwood have been limited and we know that public opinion can jeopardise proceedings. That’s why we are holding back on commenting until the police come to a conclusion.
