James Garner continues to impress at Nottingham Forest

Manchester United loanee James Garner is getting a lot of attention this season at Nottingham Forest.

Anyone that watches the youth teams at United will know that Garner’s potential has been spoken about for some time. He impressed against Arsenal in the FA Cup this season and caught everyone’s eye again in their win 4-1 thrashing over Leicester City.

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown was commentating on the game and he suggested that United should be trying to get him back to the club quickly.

Keown was quoted by the Metro, saying: “Again, set-piece, the ball in from Garner is an absolute beauty, look at the whip on that.

“You can’t underestimate the quality that Garner is putting into this box. He’s on loan from Manchester United – they need to be thinking about getting him back there quickly!

“I like the way he’s developing, growing as a player. Second year here on loan, you can see the development. He’s certainly playing with a lot more confidence right now.”

This will be music to the ears of United fans as the first team is crying out for new central midfielders.

The next manager will have a decision to make with Garner next season.

He hardly needs another loan spell after spending two spells at Forest? They’d undoubtedly take him back if there was a chance of that happening.

Garner is hopeful of staying at Manchester United next season as he approaches the final months of his loan spell, as per Manchester Evening News, with claims the Red Devils briefly discussed the possibility of recalling Garner last month.

Source close to the player are “optimistic” his form for Forest could secure a first-team role under the next manager.
