After deciding not to add to the squad in January, Manchester United are planning a midfield overhaul in the summer, along with welcoming a new manager to the club.
According to ESPN, there are at least three midfielders being considered for the defensive midfield role, and among them is West Ham and England ace Declan Rice.
We saw on his recent outing at Old Trafford what he could bring to our midfield, as he held his own in a battle against several United players, but he isn’t the only Premier League player on the list.
Leeds United midfielder Kavlin Phillips is also listed as a target along with Amadou Haidara at RB Leipzig.
The Reds were strongly linked with Haidara by the Daily Mirror, who claim that Ralf Rangnick is a big fan, and in a recent interview with German publication Bild he said he’s perfectly happy where he is and is not desperate for a change right now.
“I can’t say much about that,” Haidara said. “I’m glad to be back [after AFCON]. You hear rumours, that’s how it is when the transfer period is over.
“But I still have a contract (until 2025) and I want to keep fulfilling it. I see no reason for changing thoughts.”
United did not sign any players in January because they have yet to appoint a full-time manager.
Let us know if you think United should be looking for a midfielder with Premier League experience or whether that matters if there’s someone else out there better than those mentioned?
Deluded.
Like saying West Ham are eying Bruno Fernandez.
Manyoo aren’t a big draw any longer for the top players, and Rice is the very top.
City maybe when Fernandinho goes but probably Chelsea because he’s a London boy and Chelsea have players West Ham may actually want plus cash.
Don’t be surprised if West Ham build and Rice stays.
