Ralf Rangnick urges players to keep focus amid Greenwood situation

Manchester United made the call to suspend Mason Greenwood on Sunday ahead of his arrest.

On Thursday, Ralf Rangnick spoke for the first time since Greenwood hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

The academy graduate was arrested on Sunday, on suspicion of rape and sexual assault, before being further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill. United’s suspension rules him out of any club activity, including training and matches, until further notice.

Greenwood has not been named in any of the statements released by Greater Manchester Police, but he was released on bail on Wednesday.

There is very little that can be said about the situation (hence why we are having to monitor the comments section closer than usual), but Rangnick didn’t shy away from the obvious, and suggested that players had been speaking about the incident.

“We had a good normal week of training with five training sessions including today’s training,” Rangnick told reporters, as per The Mirror.

“Obviously it was a topic within the team but they’re human beings and Mason was part of the group before we had our break.

“It was a good week of training, we could train under normal circumstances and we are looking forward to the game tomorrow.”

Like we say, there is very little that can be said about the matter and the players just have to get on with their jobs, albeit under difficult circumstances.
