Newcastle United are trying to get more deals done before the January transfer window shuts tomorrow.
The Magpies are looking to strengthen their defense and recent reports have suggested Dean Henderson, 24, as a possible arrival on deadline day.
That is according to the Manchester Evening News, who claims the Geordies are targeting our second-choice goalkeeper to improve things at the back as they try to stay in the top-flight.
Eddie Howe will feel that Henderson could be tempted to move further north towards the border, instead of sitting on the bench for the rest of the season at United, where he is behind David de Gea in Ralf Rangnick’s pecking order.
During his time on loan at Sheffield United, Henderson was among the best performing goalkeepers in the Premier League.
He faces an anxious wait to see if he can secure a move before Monday’s deadline because it will make for a boring second half to the season for him if he keeps playing second fiddle.
It remains to be seen whether Newcastle United can convince the Reds to let Henderson leave for the remainder of the season, or if they will inflict a relegation bonus like they did when the Magpies came knocking for Jesse Lingard.
It now looks like Lingard will stay at United for the rest of the season.
