Ralf Rangnick could convince Erling Haaland to join United, says German football expert

Ralf Rangnick could convince Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland to join Manchester United.

That’s the line of information Guido Schafer – a German football expert, journalist, and former professional – gave Stretford Paddock’s Tier 1 podcast this week.

This is likely to excite Manchester United fans but most of us won’t believe anything until the player is pictured holding our shirt after signing the dotted line.

However, it’s still interesting to hear from someone who knows more about Rangnick than those in the British press.

When asked if Rangnick could convince Haaland to join United this summer, Schafer said: “Yes, I think so.

“Ralf Rangnick has a very good name and he’s a famous guy in Europe. He has good contacts to many good young players and also to the managers and agents. He brought so many good players to [RB] Leipzig – Upamecano, Konate, Werner – and I think this is a great advantage for Manchester United that Rangnick will speak to the family, the player and his agent.

“He’s brilliant and I think Manchester United have a very good chance to get Erling Haaland.”

There isn’t an elite side in Europe that wouldn’t want to have Haaland in their side and is set to become Europe’s most wanted striker this summer. He has everything you want in the centre forward: power, goal threat, aerial presence and pace.

Of course, United won’t be the only Premier League club interesting in his signature because he will also have Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea knocking on the door and inviting him to talks.

Jan Aage Fjortoft, as per Sky Sports, believes Haaland is looking to the Premier League later in his career which would likely see him join a Spanish club this summer.

Let us know if you think United will land the Norwegian goal-machine before Real Madrid get their hands on him?
