Ruben Neves is an established Premier League midfielder who has been linked with signing for Manchester United ever since Wolves were promoted back into the Premier League in 2018.
Not only does the former FC Porto maestro break up play and create chances, he’s got the ability to score from set-pieces and is still only 24-years-old. Neves would have no problem settling in at Old Trafford along with his international team-mates Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot.
However, it doesn’t seem like United will be signing any central midfielder this month with time running out in the transfer window, but that hasn’t stopping Wolves trying to scare off potential buyers.
The Sun claim Wolves would only consider an extraordinary offer to sell Neves, with Arsenal also believed to be interested in the Portuguese midfielder.
Wolves apparently want between £40m to £45m in exchange for Neves, which seems like half of what Declan Rice would cost, with the West Ham midfielder set to be one of United’s prime targets this summer, as per the Manchester Evening News.
Unfortunately for any fans thinking Neves is the perfect fit for United, this one looks like a non-runner.
Rice’s audition at Old Trafford prior to the international break certainly left us impressed and he certainly has the steel to add strength to our midfield, with Nemanja Matic’s best days as a professional football behind him.
