Paris Saint-Germain were always expected to be one of the clubs sniffing around Paul Pogba this summer, even though the club has been reportedly desperate to sell players on big salaries.
The French midfielder is out of contact with Manchester United when the current season ends and thus far the club has made zero progress on a renewed deal. That means Pogba is free to negotiate a future transfer with other clubs as of this month.
It sounds like PSG are getting their foot in the door early, with French publication L’Equipe suggesting Pogba is their priority target this summer.
While they will be able to get him on a free, you can be sure the player’s agent Mino Raiola will seek the biggest possible deal from the Ligue 1 giants.
Moreover, there is an argument to be had whether PSG will be stronger for signing Pogba in the summer because the report adds that they are set to lose Kylian Mbappe in similar circumstances, with the forward’s contract set to expire.
Pogba is not a like-for-like replacement but he is a World Cup winner.
Unfortunately for us, United have not seen Pogba at his best since his return in 2016. Juventus and France fans will talk about his brilliance until the cows come home, but it makes no difference to United fans if he can’t perform consistently in the Premier League.
Let us know in the comments if you expect a U-turn from Pogba, which sees him agree new terms with United?
