Man United stick surprise price tag on in-form defender

Manchester United are reportedly open to allowing full-back Alex Telles to depart the club, despite his recent upturn in form.

That’s according to a recent report from L’Interista (as relayed by Express), who claims the Red Devils would be willing to sell Telles for as little as £13m.

Telles, 29, joined United just 18-months ago following a £13.5m move from Portuguese side Porto.

Despite initially arriving and playing second fiddle to an in-form and red hot Luke Shaw, Telles has recently seen his fortunes turn around following the arrival of new interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

Speaking back in 2020 about Shaw’s ability, Rangnick, as quoted by The Sun, said: “I think on the market there are a few young central defenders.

“[United] could do with a left-back.

“I know they have Luke Shaw but I’m not so sure if he’s still on the same kind of level you need for a club like Manchester United.”

The German’s assessment of Shaw has clearly been to the benefit of Telles, who has already started as many as Premier League matches (8) this season as he managed throughout the whole of last season.

However, shockingly, according to Italian reports, the Brazilian attacking left-back is up for sale and would be allowed to depart if a club is willing to pay approximately what the Red Devils paid Porto in 2020.
