Rangnick: Jesse Lingard future at Manchester United still unclear

Jesse Lingard could be on his way out of Manchester United before transfer deadline day.

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick was asked about the midfielder’s future this afternoon, and gave the sort of update which suggested he wouldn’t be surprised if Lingard was to join another club.

“Regarding Jesse, it’s the same as quite a few other players,” Rangnick told reporters, as per Manchester Evening News.

“He’s a really good player, it’s normal at other clubs, Newcastle showed interest in him but I am not the one dealing with that. If you ask me now what will happen in the next 10 days I cannot answer that question, I’m afraid.”

This comes after a recent report from the Telegraph where it is claimed that Newcastle United have placed Lingard on their transfer wishlist, with the player out of contract at Old Trafford in six-months time.

Although there is are rumours of a £12m offer from Newcastle, who have already had a loan proposal rejected, Lingard wants to keep his long-term options open until the summer. It wouldn’t surprise us if he wanted to return to West Ham after spending the second half of last season there.

But United are clearly worried about their top four chances and sending Lingard back on loan to another Premier League club would be pointless, especially if the Hammers were to renew their interest before the contract expires because then it will be completely out of our hands.
