Bruno Fernandes turns down latest Manchester United contract offer

It would be fair to say Bruno Fernandes has showed his worth to Manchester United since joining the club from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020, but contract talks between the player and club have reportedly hit a stumbling block.

The Portugal international scored a brace against Aston Villa on Saturday, taking his tally for the season to seven (47 in total), but United were still unable to earn three points as they threw away a two-goal lead in the second-half.

According to reports, Fernandes has been pushing for an upgrade on his £100,000-a-week salary.

I point blank refuse to call that a basic salary – but players of his level tend to earn a lot more nowadays.

Cristiano Ronaldo and David de Gea both earn more than three times as much as Fernandes.

However, The Athletic claims Fernandes and his entourage turned down a new contract offer before the turn of the year, with talks not expected to resume until May.

United will know at that point whether they’ve qualified for the Champions League.

None of us want to see Fernandes leave and it’s time United offered him a significantly bigger contract.

The midfielder would get more than double £100,000 at another club and they’ve reportedly offered Paul Pogba crazy money to stay.

United already have a couple of players — Pogba and Jesse Lingard — potentially leaving for free in the summer, which is shocking business from a commercially driven football club.

  1. Manchester united is dying slowly. Sell it to another investor and see how strong this club will be. The owners are not serious
