Early United team news: Four players back for Aston Villa clash

Ralf Rangnick expects to have four players back for tomorrow’s trip to Aston Villa in the Premier League.

We know from Monday night’s tight encounter in the FA Cup that we can beat Villa without necessarily needing to play well, so it is a boost for United to have Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, Harry Maguire and Phil Jones back for this clash.

“I think they will be available,” Rangnick said, as per Manchester Evening News.

“They only trained yesterday for the first time. Cristiano yesterday, Harry the day before yesterday. We have to wait for the final session this afternoon but it seems right now they should be available for tomorrow.”

All four players missed the game on Monday, but it is unlikely that all four will start against Villa in the league.

Raphael Varane performed superbly, so, unless United revert back to a back three, I can’t see how Maguire and Jones both start. We’ll probably see the skipper step in.

Sancho had tight hamstrings, which seemed pretty minor when Rangnick spoke ahead of the FA Cup game, so he should be in the starting line-up along with Ronaldo, despite claims the Portuguese star was a doubt for the game.

Thankfully, according to the manager, Ronaldo should be available.

Let’s hope there are no last minute niggles.
