Dean Henderson still committed to United ahead of potential January move

Dean Henderson is believed to be pushing for a loan move away from Manchester United this month.

Our second-choice goalkeeper, who developed his game in the club’s academy, was omitted from the United squad for their FA Cup third round win over Aston Villa when he was widely expected to start the game.

He trained on Sunday ahead of the game and there were reports before kick-off that he was in the middle of sorting out his future move away from United.

Henderson has made just two starts this season but missed the beginning of the campaign due to COVID-19, so he will be looking for a loan switch to somewhere he will be guaranteed a starting role.

According to friend of Stretty News, Jonathan Shrager, a loan deal seems most likely in January with the keeper still committed to United.

Shrager tweeted: “I am told there is a possibility that Henderson will leave MUFC in January. But if that were to happen, a loan deal currently seems more likely than a permanent move, as Dean is committed to Manchester United. Discussions are ongoing to find the best short and long term solutions.”

It is good news for United that Henderson is only considering a loan move away – and not something more permanent because with more patience he will be the one who replaces David de Gea as No.1.
