Manchester United trio miss FA Cup clash with muscular injuries

Manchester United have three players out injured for tonight’s FA Cup encounter against Aston Villa at Old Trafford.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Phil Jones have all have muscular problems keeping them out of the cup tie.

It means Manchester United will line-up with the following XI: De Gea, Dalot, Lindelof, Varane, Shaw, Fred, McTominay, Fernandes, Greenwood, Rashford, Cavani.

Interim manager Ralf Rangnick has confirmed that he spoke with Ronaldo on Sunday before training and discovered that the Portuguese superstar has felt pain over the last few days, so it didn’t make sense to risk him for the cup fixture.

Rangnick said the following before the match: “I spoke to Cristiano yesterday before training and he said he’d had some problems for the last couple of days, spine minor problems and in the end we decided it would make more sense not to take any risks in a cup game that could last 120 minutes.”

On top of that, Manchester Evening News reporter Tyrone Marshall claims Jones is feeling pain in his quad, while Sancho has tightness in both hamstrings.

A win would put United into the fourth round against Middlesbrough.
