Phil Jones started his first game in 708 days and at half-time you would’ve comfortably said he was Manchester United’s best player.
The centre-back was unfortunate to find his headed clearance straight into Joao Moutinho’s path for the game’s only goal as Wolves won 1-0.
Although United lost the game, Jones was probably the only player on the pitch who can come away proud of his performance, but the whole side were a million miles away from where they needed to be in order to beat Wolves.
We failed in our attempts and Luke Shaw has already commented on the lack of togetherness he felt on the pitch today.
The left-back also took time to praise Jones for his comeback display.
“He was phenomenal, he needs a lot of respect for that tonight,” Shaw told Sky Sports (H/t Football Daily).
