Manchester United loanee Facundo Pellistri has revealed that he has tested positive for COVID-19.
The 20-year-old, who is currently on loan at Alaves, will now miss Sunday’s clash with Real Sociedad as he must self-isolate.
Pellistri signed for United last season but is enjoying his second loan spell at the La Liga club since his big move to Europe. He is now a regular in the side but has yet to score his first senior goal for the club.
That gives the winger something to look forward to in 2022 but he will have to wait after testing positive for coronavirus.
On Twitter, Pellistri confirmed he has COVID-19, writing: “I want to inform you that in the last hours I tested positive for Covid-19.
“I feel good, at home and without symptoms, following medical instructions and training to join the squad when the time is right.
“Happy New Year! For a 2022 of many successes and health!”
Does Pellistri have a future at Manchester United?
I think all of the young players at the club stand a chance, Pellistri included, but it will take something special to stand out amongst the competition.
Amad Diallo is another player who will probably be sent on loan this month. He needs game time in order to develop and was unlucky to miss out on a move to Feyenoord at the beginning o the season due to injury.
Hopefully the young Uruguayan can add goals to his game in the second half of the season but it is important to note that he took his time becoming a regular in this Alaves side.
