“That was a mess.” – Gary Neville, Sky Sports
Gary Neville didn’t hold back at full-time when Manchester United drew 1-1 with Newcastle at St James’ Park.
The former club captain was disgusted with the first-half performance as United trailed 1-0 at the break.
United had four chances on target throughout the match, which is less than their relegation battling opponents. He criticised the team at half-time for failing to stick to the ‘basics of the game’ and for showing no urgency.
Neville even branded the players ‘whingebags’ and slammed them for ‘complaining about everything’.

Neville was asked for his thoughts at full-time, whether United had improved in the second-half, but he was still in disbelief by how poorly the players performed on the night.

“That was a mess,” Neville said after the match.
He was also critical of how Ralf Rangnick set up his team tonight.
Neville thinks the new interim manager will be annoyed by the performance.
