(Photos) Manchester United players return to Carrington for training

At least 20 players from Manchester United’s first team squad have returned to training after last week’s COVID-19 outbreak which caused two match postponements.

Manchester United have thus far played 16 of their 38 Premier League games and it remains to be seen when last week’s supposed fixtures against Brentford and Brighton will go ahead.

The Manchester Evening News had photographers at Carrington training complex, which has not seen the first team for a few days, and they’ve been able to update us with a list of players who were present this morning.

Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, Scott McTominay, Fred, Mason Greenwood, Luke Shaw, Jesse Lingard, and Juan Mata were at training.

Those on the absentee list included Cristiano Ronaldo, Donny van de Beek, Paul Pogba, Diogo Dalot, Jadon Sancho, Phil Jones, Tom Heaton, and Dean Henderson.

The return of players will be ‘staggered’ in the lead up to Monday’s Premier League trip to Newcastle United, according to the report, following the news that the top division will carry on through the crisis without any breaks.

All of this has disrupted Ralf Rangnick’s plans for the team because he should have two more games under his belt by now. At least Newcastle should be a walk in the park like it seems to be for everyone else in the league.
