Manchester United send scout to watch goalkeeper on worst possible night

It was a tough night for the youngster…

Manchester United reportedly sent their goalkeeping scout Tony Coton to keep a close eye on Man City vs Leeds United on Tuesday night. The main objective was to watch Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

The 21-year-old keeper is on Manchester United’s radar after impressing at Leeds, although there was nothing impressive about his performance on Wednesday night in the Premier League.

However, at the same time, it would be ridiculous to pin the result solely on Meslier even though the young Frenchman shipped seven goals in a 7-0 defeat.

Meslier still managed to pull off eight saves, with City’s shooting tally reaching a whopping 31.

The Daily Mail claim Coton believes Meslier is among the best young goalkeepers in the world right now, so don’t expect this game to change anything with United expected to keep an eye on the shot stopper.

David de Gea remains United’s first choice goalkeeper, but reports suggest Dean Henderson will leave to get more football elsewhere. That will make Tom Heaton second choice ahead of Lee Grant.
