Man Utd team news v Norwich City – Rangnick provides update on Wan-Bissaka

Manchester United go into Saturday’s game against Norwich City with two more potential absentees.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka had to be stretched off at the end of the 1-1 Champions League draw with Young Boys on Wednesday night and Nemanja Matic, who captained the side that night, has felt unwell in recent days but thankfully tested negative for COVID-19.

Ralf Rangnick held his press conference before Friday’s 2pm training session so he couldn’t comment on whether either of these two players would be in the squad to face Norwich. It is understood that Wan-Bissaka will be assessed by the medical team before a decision is made.

“We have two or three question marks behind players,” Rangnick said, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News. “But since they haven’t shown up yet because we train at two o’clock, we have to wait until after or before the training session, until the doctor and medical department can tell me what the current situation is like.

“Aaron received one or two knocks in the game. There is still a question mark behind Nemanja Matic. He had a cold, I wouldn’t call it flu, he tested negatively for COVID. I am still hoping he can be available but we have to wait how he feels today.”

We are expecting to see a number of changes to the starting line-up on Saturday, with Matic likely to be replaced at centre-back and Diogo Dalot set to start at right-back. And based on their performances against Young Boys, it has nothing to do with them being doubts to make the match.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and David de Gea are all expected to return to the starting line-up.
