Betting preview: Manchester United vs Arsenal

Manchester United will be led by Michael Carrick on Thursday night as Manchester United play host to Arsenal in the Premier League.

Carrick did very well in his two games so far after a Champions League win over Villarreal and an encouraging draw away at Chelsea on Sunday.

We have no idea how much influence Ralf Rangnick will have on the tactics and selection, but no matter who is in charge on Thursday night, I fancy United to take all three points by getting back to winning ways in the Premier League.

Keeping your eyes on the markets for the best odds is always a good idea, but United are currently 19/20 with Bet365, making us favourites to spoil Mikael Arteta’s day. Also make sure to watch the in-game trends from 800+ leagues and competitions to really juice up on that important sporting data.

Arsenal have been on a decent run of late and they got back to winning ways with a comfortable win against bottom place Newcastle United. Their fans won’t be counting their chickens after that though – knowing the Gunners have a tendency to ‘bottle it’ against the bigger teams.

We certainly hope they will be feeling ‘Spursy’ on Thursday night.

Arteta’s men can be backed at 11/4 with Bet365 while a draw is priced at 13/5 with Sky Bet.

Recent meetings

There was just one goal in the two meetings between these sides last season. It went Arsenal’s way at Old Trafford but it’s even more disappointing that we haven’t defeated the Gunners in the last five meetings.

Something has to change. This is Arsenal we’re talking about!

One to watch

Jadon Sancho has had his best week since joining Manchester United. Not only did he score his first goal for the club against Villarreal in the Champions League, but he also netted his first ever Premier League goal against Chelsea. He is 19/5 to score again with Unibet on Thursday.

For Arsenal, we’ll be keeping an eye on the talented Bukayo Saka after his goal against Newcastle at the weekend. He’s 26/5 to get on the scoresheet at Old Trafford but hopefully David de Gea gets another clean sheet under his belt.

First goalscorer

Although he didn’t start last time out against Chelsea, I think Cristiano Ronaldo will be in the line-up because United need to get at Arsenal early on. The Portuguese superstar is priced at 7/2 with 888 Sport to score the game’s first goal.

Ronaldo has a decent record against Arsenal, too.

The United legend has played against the Gunners 15 times – winning 7, drawing 4 and losing 4 – and he has managed 6 goals and 2 assists.

Let’s hope he can add to that account this week!
